Baylee had neglected to tell her mom that I was coming to have lunch with her. Her mom interpreted my visit as something other than it was and contacted me inquiring why I had not sought her permission to have lunch with her daughter. Truthfully, it never crossed my mind. And I assumed that Baylee would mention it to mom. My chat encounter with the mom left me feeling like a predator. I won't be visiting again and the one who will suffer will be Baylee. She has lost a caring adult from her life due to the world in which we live where good intentions are viewed with suspicion.
